Belfast Illustrated Maps: A Creative Way to Remember Belfast

Belfast Illustrated Maps: A Creative Way to Remember Belfast

Belfast, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and thriving student life, is a city that leaves a huge impression on so many people who visit. My illustration work is all about celebrating the ties we have to places we love, and with a city as loved as Belfast, how could I not create an illustration of it?

When I set out to create this Belfast print, I really wanted to be sure to fill it with landmarks and details that blend Belfast’s landmarks, culture and charm into one piece of art. I have a close friend who grew up near Belfast and went to University there, so I picked her brain on the absolute must-have places and icons to include on the map.

There’s no shortage of things to do and see in Belfast, from enjoying the nightlife of the Cathedral Quarter to having a peaceful walk along the River Lagan. But how do you take a piece of this unique city home with you? In this blog post, we’ll explore why illustrated maps make the perfect souvenir, thoughtful gift, or stylish addition to your home.

Why choose illustrated maps as a momento?

Art meets history

When you think of illustrated maps, you might usually picture a practical tool for getting around a new city and pinpointing where to find the most notable landmarks. For my art prints, however, I really wanted to capture Belfast’s rich history and vibrant culture in an art print that could be displayed in the home and enjoyed as a way to keep your memories alive. This Belfast print includes some of the most famous landmarks of there city, including Belfast Castle, Queen's University and Titanic Belfast.

More than just a map

All the illustrations I create are a tribute to that city’s architecture and history. From the industrial Harland & Wolff cranes to the beautiful Tudor-style Queens University, Belfast is home to such a variety of historic landmarks that were such a joy to capture on paper. My posters are a colourful and contemporary take on the city, perfect for anyone looking to add a pop of colour to their decor, or as a gift for someone who loves collecting art.

Moving away from generic magnets and postcards, this illustrated map of Belfast is a timeless piece that will not only commemorate your trip but also serve as a lovely art piece to display in your home. My hope is for this Belfast map to transform the streets and landmarks you explored into a unique artistic display that will remind you of everything that made your visit special.

We all have different things we love about the places we visit, and I hope through my illustrated Belfast map I have captured many of those at a glance, serving as a visual diary of your trip.
